Brooks has always been a fool. Always monkeying around and getting into things he shouldn't, he was always a pain in the ass. Teachers couldn't get him to listen and he would finally skip classes, giving the teachers brief relief. He'd come back the day after, no sign of change. He was that kid who felt he was better than school. Vale High had nothing on him. He believed he knew the system up and down, and refused to get caught in the web laid out for the students. They wanted him to work for the city, and waste away so that the city may rise in the future. He'd live it. No more wasting time, nose in the books. He'd go out there, and live what greatness they already had. He saw no wrong. When Brooks skipped class one day, he was greeted by an odd fellow. He had golden eyes that amazed childish Brooks, and he wanted them. The trouble child always got what he wanted, and that was the reason his parents assigned him to live in the dorms at Vale High in the first place. Though they loved him as their child, he was too much. The house was already bouncing off the walls and chaotic with five children. Brooks was the middle child, so faded out around the rest. His presence wouldn't be missed. After accepting the "terms of agreement" with the stranger, Brooks was given the "stellar" gold eyes. He went back to school and expected everyone to react, but no one did. Looking at his reflection, he saw no difference either. He met up with the one who gave him the colored eyes and confronted him about the con. Brooks just didn't get it, and because of that, he wasn't gifted the perfected gaze. He had to be willing to understand the responsibility and task that came with the astounding eyes. He would have to take orders from these people who called themselves the Golden Chromas. Hate the Crimsons and Sapphires. Avoid the Mono Chromes. It was all so foreign to Brooks, but he loved it. So cool. Finally, Brooks was given the perfected gaze, though he still wasn't taking it as serious as it needed to be. He would learn through mistakes. "Spread the word to the other kids." That was his position in this war. Brooks wanted it all for himself though. He wanted to be the envy of the school. He'd be so cool. Brooks has to be constantly reminded of his role by the other members, but he's too stubborn for even the chroma gaze to affect how he perceives these things. It just goes to show you, personality can still prevent a successful transfer of the gaze. Many wonder who the Chroma was who choose to give him their color chroma, and what made them make such a poor decision. Brooks was not what they were looking for.
He is 15 years old and in his 10th year at Vale High. He's a short kid, only 5'4, and attempts to compensate for his height. He has crazy, thick black hair that's never tamed, and a light complexion. Though Brooks has a perfected chroma gaze, his skills are extremely poor when it comes to using the power that comes with a perfected gaze. Brooks has a slightly obnoxious voice, rough and uneven- almost scratchy, though not deep and matured.
